Arts festival begins with concert, display

The inaugural Westobou Festival opened Thursday night with a little British Invasion and some quiet meditation.

The 10-day Westobou Festival,
September 18 – 27, will encompass downtown Augusta, Georgia, including Augusta State University and Paine College. Each day and evening will feature
an array of dance, musical,
theatrical, and visual arts events
to dazzle visitors and showcase the wealth of local and regional artistic talent that has exploded in this area.

Augusta’s major arts organizations – Ballet, Opera, Symphony – have embraced the Festival. The Morris Museum of Art, the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, Historic Augusta, The Imperial Theatre, Artists’ Row, Augusta State University and Sacred Heart Cultural Center all plan special exhibitions and activities as well.
